First Aid course will teach students how to recognize and provide first aid to
people with various environmental and medical emergencies.
Objectives:
At the end of this course the learners will be able to...
• Recognize the necessity of locating and properly maintaining the first aid kit.
• Describe the steps for assessing an incident and determining a persons need for first aid.
• Discuss the importance of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while providing first aid.
• Recognize when to call 911.
• Identify various medical emergencies and describe appropriate interventions that should be provided.
• Identify various environmental emergencies and describe appropriate interventions that should be provided.
Prerequisites:High school diploma or GED and/or reading at the 10th grade level.
